On a historic day in January 31st, 2025, the Nigerian Armed Forces, in collaboration with Colosseum Associates as the lead consultant, celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony of the Armed Forces Invictus Centre in Abuja, Giri, Nigeria. This landmark project, inspired by the global Invictus Games movement, aims to provide world-class rehabilitation and support services for wounded, injured, and sick military personnel and veterans. The ceremony marked a significant step forward in honoring the sacrifices of Nigeria’s servicemen and women while showcasing the power of innovation and collaboration.
The event was led by the Chief of Defence Staff, General CG Musa, who welcomed the Honourable Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, to the site for the ceremony.
To provide comprehensive support to Nigerian service members who have suffered injuries or illnesses whilst serving, using sport as a tool for rehabilitation and reintegration.
The design philosophy of the Invictus Centre embraces the rich cultural heritage of Nigeria, integrating traditional architectural forms with modern innovations.

The “Armed Forces Invictus Centre, Giri, Abuja” is a state-of-the-art facility located in Nigeria’s capital city, Abuja. Inspired by the global “Invictus Games” initiative, which was founded by Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, the centre embodies the spirit of resilience and recovery through sports and physical activity.
